ART RESIDENCY

Artists and other creative professionals can stay and work elsewhere temporarily by participating in artist-in-residence programs and other residency opportunities. These opportunities offer conditions that are conducive to creativity and provide their guests with context, such as working facilities, connections, audience, etc…

RESIDENCY PROFILES

No artist in the residence programme is the same. Each programme or guest studio, large or small, established or experimental, has its own background and atmosphere. Working periods differ enormously: from two weeks to six months or sometimes even a year. Some specialize in one discipline, others are open to a great number of disciplines. There are also a lot of differences in financial resources, housing and studio facilities, application and selection procedures, coaching, exhibiting, networking.

Participation is planned a long time in advance, usually six months, sometimes years ahead.

The concepts developed through Zoubir’s artworks request the notions, the positionings and the tensions of language of the human being/animal/object bodies and its articulation in urban/rural/ fictional spaces. Her installations, drawings, videos, sculptures, photographs, land art are textual and contextual interventions on materials: wax, wood, metals and wall, reveal and deconstruct a behavioral allusion of the unconscious and the imagination of individuals, evolving in a predetermined space according to the sociocultural, ethnopsychical and political contexts. The intention of the created images tries to embellish this moment of distance of the ordinary. A moved and poetic look on the body, articulated by spaces favoring the positioning of who look is looked.

Multidisciplinary artist, restless creative, designer, stylist, illustrator, interior designer, window dresser, muralist… it is difficult to define someone as multifaceted as Lauro Samblás, without falling short.

From his childhood in Puertito de Güimar (Tenerife), comes his love for the summer, for the light and the landscape of the Canary Islands that inspire him so much, and that has become another element of his work. Whimsical geometric shapes of vivid colors, which work like the pieces of a strange puzzle, in which he shamelessly mixes techniques, supports and materials, and which he has managed to make absolutely recognizable and unique.
